I feel one season of April to Nov in construction or farm hauling with a dz driving alone and allowed to drive a semi with a trained driver of 3 or more experienced in north America in the first 8 months should be more than enough time
I also feel that drivers of any truck over 11 000 kgs or bus of 11 or more passengers plus a driver should be able to read and understand English or French in Canada
We pay people who cut people toenails better and are more trained than many truck drivers in Canada

From there and more training with a trailer and a standard transmission and staying within the province. And if no accidents and then they should have a better understanding of what they are expected to be required to know and do what is safe for everyone.
