by Today's Trucking

The B.C. Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure suspended a carrier after one of its trucks struck an overpass on July 16.

S.G.D. Transport’s trucks are off the road as the ministry investigates the incident that took place on Highway 1 in Langley at the CP Rail overpass, according to the ministry website.

The strike took place a couple of weeks after another trucking company’s vehicle hit an overpass on Highway 99 in Richmond. The ministry cited the cause of the July 4 strike as “driver error: load measured incorrectly” and RCMP issued violation tickets to Ludeman Trucking. “An action plan was implemented and confirmed on July 8,” the ministry website noted.

This year, there have been 19 recorded overpass strikes in the province.
